As General Robert. E. Lee Rolls in his Grave . . .

Well, the past week saw’s yet another media shit-storm hit the airwaves generated by a series of disgusting events in the picturesque college town of Charlottesville, Virginia, home of the UVA Cavaliers, Monticello, and its owner, American founding father Thomas Jefferson.

There, a crowd of racist, white-supremacist “right-wing” idiots and thugs got in  a nasty little rumble with a crowd of pc-fascist left-wing idiots and thugs.  (The latter being those heroic champions of “liberal” “tolerance” who go around beating up anybody who dare says anything they disagree with.  They call themselves “Antifa” – which ironically supposedly means “Anti-fascist” –  your typical leftist activist being mentally incapable of actually spelling out or saying the full word “fascist.”)  The melee culminated with one of the racist idiots committing murder by deliberately ramming his Dodge Challenger into the crowd of leftist idiots.

The racist idiots (I apologize for the redundancy; it’s sort of like saying “leftist idiots”) had supposedly gathered in Charlottesville to protest the decision of that town’s board (composed, apparently, of pc bleeding-heart weenie idiots)  to tear down a statue of former CSA commanding general Robert E. Lee, following the Left’s current mania to tear down and obliterate any and all reminders and records of our country’s un-pc past, shoving them down the Orwellian memory-hole.

Of course, both sides in this so-called “debate” are profoundly and abysmally ignorant of the actual Robert E. Lee, whose statue is supposedly at the root of all this crap.  Lee was far from the blood-thirsty, Nazi-like champion of racist hate that today’s fanatic iconoclast Left condemn him as, and that today’s neo-National Socialist “alt-right” thugs celebrates him as.

General Lee (the man, not the Dodge Charger) was by all accounts a true gentleman of the highest order, and a brave and selfless leader of men.   He regarded slavery as a moral evil, and at first opposed succession of the Southern States, stating that if he could, he would free all slaves in the South if it would prevent war.  However, when offered command of the Union Army, he refused to raise his sword against his home country of Virginia, and instead fought on behalf of his native land.  After the war, he accepted defeat graciously and urged reconciliation between North and South.

Similar was the case of the second most revered icon of the South, General Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson (of whom I wrote a thesis in college), whose images are also being targeted for destruction by the rabid pc Left.  The Mexican War hero turned VMI professor turned Southern legend was a man of impeccable honor and morals who prior to the war volunteered to educate black children, and spent weeks in fervent prayer that war might be avoided.  Like Lee, he originally opposed secession, but refused to join Washington in fighting against his native state.

I want to pull my hair out every time I hear some self-righteous Yankee ignoramus (often a self-described “conservative”) declare matter-of-factly that Lee, Jackson, etc.  were “traitors” who “betrayed their country.”  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Their motivation for joining the Southern cause (which had a material disadvantage from the start) was actually patriotism.  In those days, one’s patriotic loyalty belonged primarily to his own state (their first “country”), rather than to the federal leviathon centered in Washington, D.C.  To join the federal government in attacking one’s state and people was regarded as an act of unthinkable betrayal.

Such men of honor stand in stark contrast to the ignorant savages of both today’s fascistic Left and racist “Alt-Right” who clashed in Charlottesville last week.

And please, spare me the endless crying about President Trump and his words, even blaming Mr. Trump himself for the violence.  Why in the hell does every damn thing have to be all about Donald J. Trump?  Isn’t the man’s ego big enough already?

The President’s initial condemnation of the ” egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence, on many sides” may have been too vague or weak for some, but it’s hardly the Hitlerian statement so many (including “conservatives”) are making it out to be.

But of course, today everything is politics, and politics is everything.  For the ghoulish, vulturine Left, every vile act of murder and depraved violence exists as a glorious opportunity to attack political opponents and/or demand the banning or silencing of something they don’t like (second amendment rights, the NRA, conservative talk radio, pro-lifers, Confederate statues, etc.)  Of course, it’s always conservatives or “the Right” that’s to blame, never anybody on the Left nor politically correct causes such as radical Islam – even if the killers are Leftists or screaming “Allah Akbar!”

At least in this last go-around, the violence was gun-free, sparing us (temporarily) the chorus of shrill demands for “gun control” (though “liberals” are still absurdly trying to link the “White Supremacists” and neo-Nazis to the NRA).  What’s next?  Demand the ban of cars?  (Seriously, I wouldn’t put that past them.)  But this helps prove the case, that where there is hatred, evil persons will find means to kill, regardless of what objects the government might try to ban from us commoners.  Evil and hate can’t be legislated out of existence by restricting people’s legitimate rights to own the means to defend themselves.

Much less will it be stopped by the frenzied barbaric push to destroy historical memorials, statues, flags, etc. , seeking to wipe out any part of our history deemed politically incorrect or “offensive” to our bleeding heart snowflakes.  If anything, that will set off the crazies.  After all, the “alt-Right” rally was in response to the decision to tear down a statue, not put one up.

But of course the Left and their media allies have already exploited this ugly little event (no, it’s not a “tragedy” – a tragedy means a fall of someone or something great and noble) to its fullest, using it to reinforce their Big Lie that they have been promoting for decades conflating all conservatives, and even all Republicans (or, in short, anybody and everybody who didn’t support Hillary or Bernie) with racists and neo-Nazis.  In reality, of course, the “White Supremacist” neo-Nazi crowd is a tiny, largely irrelevant fringe, and its race-based National Socialist ideals at odds with American constitutional conservatism.  And it’s being used to justify the radical leftist hysteria to purge our country (especially, but not limited to the South) of any reminders of its history and heritage (an agenda that polls shows is at odds with majority of Americans of all political persuasions).   (Here in Texas, “Antifa” idiots are demanding that statues of Sam Houston – ironically a man strongly opposed to Texas’ joining the Confederacy – be torn down. ) Of course, also, the media’e endless focus on such stupid racially-charged “controversies” serves as a distraction and smokescreen from the much more real and serious issues facing our country.

The Confederacy vs. the PC Confederacy of Dunces

(Note:  This rant was originally going to be published earlier, but got sidetracked with the whole “gay marriage” thing.)

Since that sick, cowardly, vile, racist little piece of excrement shot up an historic black church in Charleston over a week ago, controversy (and not a little bit of hysteria) rages on concerning the Confederate battle flag, which he had posed with in some pictures posted online.

As is usual with high-profile vile murders these days, before the bodies were even cold, the left began politicizing it, including Dear Leader, who predictably used it to pitch government “gun control,” blamed the “dark part of our history,” making the absurd and patently false claim that such violence “does not happen in other advanced countries.”

As usual, blame everyone and everything but the murderer himself.

But the real drama centered around the Confederate battle flag, and the Racist South in general, which somehow became seen by the left, and even by some so-called “conservatives” as the real  villain behind the murders.

When the Republican South Carolina governor Nikki Haley called for the battle flag to be removed from the state courthouse, she was widely applauded, as if she had made some kind of heroic decision.

But that action was hardly enough in the eyes the politically correct mob.  People began screaming for the flag to be removed from private property that was visible to the public.  Walmart and Amazon (the latter company not known to avoid selling “offensive” items) began removing all merchandise bearing the flag from their inventory.  No more Dukes of Hazzard!

In the debate over the flag, I saw and heard a lot of ignorant ranting, from both liberals, and some “conservatives” comparing the Confederacy to the Nazis, and the flag to the Nazi swastika.

The old Yankee charge was also brought up quite a bit that the Confederates were all vile traitors to their country, and thus deserving of no memory but contempt and shame.

But back then, people in the States, at least in the Southern States, sincerely saw their “country” as being their home state, rather than the federal Union, and it was to their state that they owed their patriotic loyalty, which they saw as a sacred thing.  Most Southerners regarded fighting against their home state as traitorous and dishonorable.  The Union was a creation of the various States, rather than the other way around, and Southerners (as well as many Yankees) believed states should be free to secede if they wished.

Both Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. “Stonewall”  Jackson (to use the examples of the two most famous and celebrated Confederate generals) fought for the Confederacy out of profound loyalty to their home state, rather than to perpetuate slavery, and both tended to side with the Union, until federal troops were sent in to invade South Carolina.  This tipped Virginia and other “border states” into joining the Confederacy, against what was seen as unjust federal aggression.

The war was also not primarily about slavery, but over the issue of whether states had the right to secede from the Unions.  Freeing of the slaves was originally not even a Union objective.  The Emancipation Proclamation occurred late in the war (and only applied to slaves in Confederate states.)

The Southern states did not seek to overthrow the federal government, but to secede and be independent from Washington and the federal government (just as the American colonies sought independence from the British Crown, rather than to overthrow the king in England).

Jackson prayed fervently with others for war to be avoided, and before the war, Lee said if he could, he would personally buy the freedom of every slave if it could prevent war.

Lee and Jackson would have both been appalled at the abuse of the flag in the Charleston murders.

The history of the war and the Confederacy is complex and nuanced, rather than the simplistic cartoon version of history preached by the politically correct.  For many Southerners, the flag is a symbol of honor and Southern pride, rather than racism or slavery.  Officially banning the flag as a symbol of racial hatred is actually a victory for the hateful crazies to allow them to define the flag’s meaning.

The hysterical politically correct frenzy to remove all traces of the battle flag, and other signs of the heritage of the old South, of course, does absolutely nothing to stop or prevent racism or hateful acts of violence.  It’s not as if that loser would not have committed those murders had only the flag not been flying at the courthouse.

And forcibly removing anything that people claim offends them raises a troubling precedent.

I’d personally be curious to know how many liberals screaming for the Confederate flag to be banned from public also oppose legislation that would protect the American flag from burning or other desecration.

The Confederate flag offends some people, so it needs to be removed from public view, but pee on a crucifix, and it’s “art” and “free speech” that must be funded with public tax dollars.

America may be weaker than ever before in modern history, our real liberties decreasing, while we borrow and spend at a frantic pace, laying a massive, unpayable debt on our young and future generations.  But, hell, the gays can “marry,” and we’ve gotten rid of the Confederate flag, so everything’s swell!

Dispatch from the Zombie Apocalypse

Well, we’ve somehow managed to survive an entire full week of Apocalypse brought about by the wanton disobedience of some in our fair nation to the Will of Dear Leader.  You know, what the wise men in the media and the Dem Party solemnly assured us would be the greatest catastrophe in the history of our country since the Civil War – or perhaps ever.   Millions of corpses strewn across battlefields throughout the country as brother wars against brother,  the Four Horsemen unleashed, plague and famine across the land, rivers turned to blood, demon resurrections, Deadites stalking the earth to feast upon the living – or, okay, anyhow, you get the idea.

Yet somehow, amid the rubble and carnage, teh interwebz miraculously continue to function, allowing me to spread this message to the masses.

All media hype to the contrary, the government “shutdown” is hardly some unprecedented new horror in America.  Prior to the current shutdown, the government had “shutdown” a full seventeen times since 1976, including eight times under Reagan, and twice (including a 21-day shutdown) under Clinton.  (“Shutdown” is somewhat misleading, as the majority of government continues to function fully during this period.)

Yet somehow, those occurrences failed to unleash Armageddon, or even a new War Between the States, nor did they even put a dent in the prosperity of the ‘80s and ‘90s.

Okay, you protest, maybe it’s not the end of the world, but there’s still plenty of unnecessary suffering and inconvenience.  Lots of unnecessary government workers will have to wait on their paychecks, and look at all those poor old WWII vets shut out of their own memorial!

And it’s all the fault of those crazed, radical, wild-eyed Republican right-wingnuts who are acting like little children throwing a tantrum if they don’t get their way, stubbornly refusing any concession to the perfectly wise and reasonable demands of Obama.

Except that in actual reality, the Republicans in Congress have made just about every concession to Dear Leader’s demands, including full funding of Obamacare, showing all the backbone and defiant resolve of a bowl of tapioca pudding, and are now merely demanding delays in the implementation of Obamacare.

(With few notable exceptions, Republicans in the House and Senate have shown near zero willingness to fight against a law which blatantly defies the Constitution of our land – yes, despite how the SCOTUS and that traitorous little weasel Roberts ruled – and is unpopular with most of the American people.

It’s time for the Republican Party to find a new symbol.  The mighty elephant is one of the most magnificent creatures to walk God’s earth.  They should stop disgracing that noble beast, and replace it with something appropriately spineless, brainless and squishy – like a worm or a slug, willing to be trampled by a jackass.  Frankly, if the GOP can’t find the balls to stand for anything, it deserves to go the way of the dodo – or the wooly mammoth, to use a pachyderm example.  The Party may be old, but there’s not a damn thing grand about it these days.)

It’s King Obama (wait, I believe we still officially use the title “President”) who’s playing my-way-or-the-highway, refusing to make even the tiniest concessions to the opposition.   (This is the Prez who ran back in ’09 promising to “reach across the aisle” and unite the country.)  Now he “will not negotiate with those people.” (You see, he’s only willing to negotiate with reasonable folks, like brutal Islamist dictators.)

This is contrary to every previous president, who actually negotiated and made concessions to end shutdowns.  He is also the first to demand the closure of the WWII memorial, which is privately funded, and has remained open under every previous government “shutdown.”  It’s another shamelessly cynical exercise of Dear Leader’s “maximize the pain” principle to bend people to his will.

Obama wishes to rule as a complete despot in blatant disregard to any and all constitutional restraints on power.  Those cowardly Republican “leaders” afraid to stand up to him are worse than worthless, and all the mindless media zombies who voted for Dear Leader and support his every despotic seizure of power – yeah, I’m talking about you – are a cancerous rot on the face of our dying Republic.

(So many on the left who spent the Bush II years screaming about how Bush was Hitler and “Dissent is the highest form of patriotism,” now support every despotic increase in federal power, and will tolerate no dissent from their Dear Leader.)

Frankly, our out-of-control federal government should stay shut down, and those with unnecessary government jobs should look for work in the private sector, rather than off the public dole.  (So much of our Leviathan State is in fact unnecessary.)

Our current soft tyranny did not come about by force of arms, but because We the People have allowed it, becoming unthinking zombies rather than a vigilant free citizenry preferring freedom to easy dependency.

Have a nice day.
